Competition: Acumatica Cloud ERP versus Competitor Products

During your evaluation of ERP systems, you will compare the major ERP systems. This takes a lot of time. We give you some main comparisons with videos that proof our comparison statements.

Acumatica Cloud ERP versus Traditional ERPs (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, MS Dynamics GP, AX, NAV, Infor, Epicor, Sage, etc.)

The Acumatica ERP software being open source is a big deal since it enables your company to save a lot of money when you have to customize your ERP, when you have to develop new applications that are extensions of the Acumatica ERP Foundation software, and when you have to integrate with 3rd party (ISV) applications. Acumatica Cloud ERP versus SAP

  1. User Friendliness

    1. Acumatica Cloud ERP is much more user friendly than SAP 4HANA. The videos below will proof that. No wonder that so many SAP users say that SAP is so complex and full of cryptic codes that are so difficult to understand.

  1. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

    1. Acumatica Cloud ERP TCO is much much lower than the SAP TCO.

      1. The TCO consists of the following major costs:

        1. Software licensing fee over 5 years

        2. The software maintenance fee

        3. The implementation cost consisting of installation, configuration, data migration testing, piloting, training, cut over to production.

        4. The maintenance by the ERP consulting partner to improve performance, install upgrades,

        5. Customization cost

        6. Application development cost

        7. More details about calculating the TCO. Further details.

      2. The SAP software licensing fee might be quite low per user but, all the other costs are sky high since the hourly fee for a SAP consultant are very high. Combine this with the fact that you need a full time SAP consultant year around every year to do the implementation, maintenance, customization and application development. Because SAP is so complex, your own IT people can not do it. With the Acumatica Cloud ERP, this is not the case. Only during a short implementation period of about 3 -6 months, will you need an Acumatica ERP consultant. After some training, your people will be able to maintain the Acumatica Cloud ERP.

  2. SAP is complex and difficult to use but, can do everything that you need it to do

    1. SAP is complex

      1. A lot of SAP users complain that they get lost when they go from one screen/form to another

        1. A SAP user testifies to this:

          1. "Another common complaint about SAP software is its complexity -- well, you know what, running a business is complex, and achieving simplicity is not simply through providing rudimentary software, rather, through high level of automation.  While SAP has been pretty good at "automation", it does recognize the areas of improvement and constantly working in this area."

          2. "But on the other hand, SAP's methodological approach to software development is a key to its success, and also to its bad-name.  While games, or other individual creatively tools can benefit from a "try and see" approach, business software would have a much lower tolerance for strategic break down (I'm not talking about bugs, rather, a systematic disconnect of the pieces of different part of the business).  The SAP solution gave early adopters a "connected, cohesive" business solution that multiple users can work in one system."

    2. SAP is not user friendly (difficult to use)

      1. SAP is not intuitive

        1. A SAP user testifies to this:

          1. "One of the common complaints about SAP software is its user interface.  First of all, SAP agrees and has been working on totally new interfaces (Fiori is the way to go!), Second, there were reasons for the SAP interfaces -- it was a "legacy" goes back nearly 4 decades the SAPgui was somewhat a simulation of the previous generation of SAP software interface when it was running on Mainframe!  back then, user interface was pretty much command line prompt, there were no "casual way to consume information on computer screen" yet.  And SAPgui design was "batch friendly" -- somewhat similar to the ability of redirect input/output of UNIX systems, SAPgui screens can be "filled" programmatically and enable customer to have 100% consistent process between interactive and batch process.

          2. If you think about how many transactions customers can do in an SAP system, you would understand better the challenges, and achievement of SAPgui which had its root extended back to the 80s.

  3. Acumatica ERP is not complex and is user friendly, and has all the features that a midsize company will want. It can easily be customized and integrated with new embedded applications and ISV applications to satisfy the needs of a large company. Proof is here.

Acumatica Cloud ERP versus NetSuite

  1. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). (See above for the definition of TC0)

    1. The Acumatica Cloud ERP TCO is much lower than the NetSuite TCO
    2. The NetSuite software licensing fee might be quite low per user for the first three years because of the heavy discount but, after that the discount period expires, and your software licensing fee could double. This statement is feedback from our customers  and prospects  for which the discount period expired.
  2. Integrating Magento E-Commerce with NetSuite is a nightmare
    1. Our customer Saddleback Leather testifies to this.

You can read the whole nightmare story here. It confirms everything what was said above.

3. Acumatica's inventory replenishment formula is way more useful that the one of NetSuite. Click here

Acumatica Cloud ERP versus MS Dynamics GP, AX, NAV and MS Dynamics 365

  1. MS Dynamics GP, AX and NAV

    1. MS Dynamics GP, AX and NAV are not web based, and are being phased out by Microsoft
    2. Microsoft wants MS Dynamics GP and AX to migrate to MS Dynamics 365 Finance and  Operations, and MS Dynamics NAV to MS Dynamics 365 Business Central
      1. There are no migration tools. You have to enter from scratch all configuration data and master data (customer, vendors, items, employees, projects, etc. ). For more details click on the weblink: https://6connex.webcasts.com/starthere.jsp?ei=1263453&tp_key=127ae3fee3&sti=socialmedia

    3. Best solution: subscribe to the Acumatica Cloud ERP, and use its import scenarios to tranfer the MS Dynamics data to Acumatica.
  2. MS Dynamics 365
    1. MS Dynamics CRM is not fully integrated with MS Dynamics 365, MS Dynamics has its own database
    2. There are no migration tools. You have to enter from scratch all configuration data and master data (customer, vendors, items, employees, projects, etc. )
    3. Check out the following article that compares Acumatica ERP with MS Dynamics 365: https://www.dynamictechservices.com/dynamics-365-business-central-or-acumatica-which-is-better/
    4. Best solution: subscribe to the Acumatica Cloud ERP, and use its import scenarios to tranfer the MS Dynamics data to Acumatica.

Acumatica Cloud ERP versus ProcessPro with Sage Enterprise

A chemical process manufacturer was using ProcessPro that is integrated with Sage ERP Financial. However the features of planning, BOM and MRP in ProcessPro were too limited. The customer migrated to SAGE X3 which was probably the least painful migration in the short term. SInce SAGE X3 uses old programming code such as BQOL, this was not a smart solution for the long term. The customer should have chosen the Acumatica based  cloud ERP Package for Process Manufacturing: https://www.intercs.com/process-manufacturing-erp

More details about this case are are as follows:

  • ABC Compounding, Inc. is a specialty chemical manufacturer of industrial cleaning supplies. Through decades of uninterrupted growth and profitability, the company has grown into a recognized leader in the industry. Though ABC Compounding serves customers large and small, up to 60 percent of its sales are private-label products, distributed by regional and national janitorial supply companies. Maintaining the success of a large manufacturing operation with thousands of products is challenging, but it is a challenge the company is meeting, with help from Sage ERP X3.
Move to a Modern Manufacturing Solution The company had been using an integrated manufacturing solution, called ProcessPro, which utilizes the Sage Pro ERP financial modules. While the solution had performed well for years, it had become undersized and lacked key functionality needed to meet the company’s growing demands. “Planning, scheduling, and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) features had become increasingly important to us, and they were lacking in our previous ERP software,” explains Myra Hager, chief information officer for ABC Compounding. “We needed a scalable, fully integrated, enterprise solution that was easily adaptable to our requirements.”
Hager had used Sage ERP X3 in a prior position, and was familiar with its comprehensive manufacturing capabilities. “The time was right, and the pricing to make the switch was very competitive,” she says. “We never seriously evaluated any other solutions. Sage ERP X3 delivers what we need.”

Acumatica Cloud ERP versus Oracle

Oracle maintenance is very expensive, and may require that you use only Oracle technical support employees. The Acumatica customer "Power Storage Solutions" migrated from Oracle to the Acumatica Cloud ERP. This company used six different systems such as Oracle E1, SalesForce CRM and CPQ, Workday and DavisWare (inventory and service management). The integration was a nightmare. The data in the different systems was not in sync. Now with the Acumatica Cloud ERP, they have one system. Read more about this customer story here. Some more saving details.
